Dream Screen

there's also a hardware limit of 250 LEDs max in the DreamScreen HD/4K hubs,
so higher density with large TVs isn't really an option at the moment.

WS2812B, SK6812, APA104, and WS2813

The DreamScreen DIY currently will work with WS2812B, SK6812, APA104, and WS2813 digital LED lights. Yes, you could use the 60LEDs/meter WS2812B strips, instead of the 30 LEDs/meter versions, it supports those. And yes, in the DreamScreen TV app you can specify the number of LEDS at the top/bottom and left/right (you can already install the demo version of that app in the Google/Apple app store).

Higher density LED strips are worth it for smaller size TVs. For larger size TVs, the extra LEDs will not matter much in terms of lighting. Also, there is a hardware limit:
The new DreamScreen models (HD/4K) have 2 LED connector ports, supporting upto 150 LEDs per port, upto a maximum of 250 LEDs total.
So if you want to use higher density LED strips (60 LEDS/meter), you can have just over 4 meter in total, which should be enough for a 55“ TV, or a 60” TV with a small gap.
